Jacqueline Emmerson was Highly Commended in the Private Client Practitioner of the Year in the British Wills and Probate Awards 2024.
North East law firm, Emmersons Solicitors, has been recognised for legal excellence, business diligence and customer care at a national awards ceremony held in January in Bristol.
The firm, which has offices in Sunderland and Newcastle, were announced as Family Law Firm of the Year- Regional and highly commended in the Boutique Firm of the Year category at the British Family Law Awards.

We are very proud to announce that our Probate team has won another award at the British Wills and Probate Awards.
They were awarded Probate Provider of the Year for the North and Midlands region at a ceremony held in the heart of Manchester.
This is a fantastic achievement as the team were up against national firms, and highlights the value of the services the Probate team offer. The judges were impressed with the the team commenting that this is,
“A compassionate and well run firm which not only goes the extra mile, but proactively works for their clients to ensure the best outcome. With good demonstration of cost savings for clients!”
The National British Wills and Probate awards were introduced to highlight achievement and recognise the successes of those in the Wills and Probate sector.
These awards have observed, and at times narrated, the stories and achievements of many professionals who have demonstrated the impact they have made within their own organisation and the sector as a whole. This award was made for the excellent work our Private Client Team have done in relation to Will Writing and community work throughout the pandemic and for going the extra mile on behalf of our Lasting Power of Attorney Clients, who we support when there is no one else available to help them.
There has never been a more important time to celebrate the hard work, skill and dedication of lawyers in England and Wales, to champion the rule of law and to defend the fundamental right to justice for all.

This award celebrates the successes of small firms over the last year, whether from stand-out events or overall performance. These firms have demonstrated excellence through business improvement, staff engagement and development, and client service.
Emmersons Solicitors impressed the judges with their commitment to public service through extensive work as LGBTQ campaigners and career mentors to young people.
It is more than 21 years since this native of Sunderland launched a town centre Solicitors firm and 30 years since she began practising law. And as she collected the award, Jacqueline was keen to highlight one particular aspect of her work. Jacqueline said "I am really proud because I have done a lot of work for the LGBT community in the last 21 years. For them, I wanted to win this because there has been an immense change in the law."
Emmersons Solicitors made both office locations available as collection points every December. As a collection point for local businesses and members of our community to drop-off parcels for food.
We were delighted to have recently won the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Award. As a firm, we are passionate about supporting our local communities and charities.
