Directors at Emmersons Solicitors have announced plans to ramp up their dedication to educating local businesses, organisations and schools about the effects of Alzheimers' disease and other causes of dementia.

Members of Emmerson's team have already become official Dementia Friends, an initiative set up by Alzheimer's Societ.

Director Michael Robinson is undergoing training to become a Dementia Champion and the firm will then run sessions from its Sunderland office to help others become Dementia Friends.

"As a local business it is important for us to support our communities, especially in relation to something which impacts so many people," said Michael.

"The amount of people being diagnosed with dementia is set to rise, and we need all of these people to be supported by their community.
