Emmersons' senior partner Jacqueline Emmerson is head of the family department and is a member of the Law Society's Specialist Family Law Panel and Resolution.
She is one of a limited number of solicitors in the area who deals with Collaborative Family Law. She specialises in high net worth cases often including business assets.
As the breakdown of a marriage or civil partnership is always a very difficult time, we provide a sympathetic approach to sensitive issues surrounding the family.
We regularly negotiate complex divorce settlements including the distribution of business assets, pensions, investments and property. We can also help you with cohabitation disputes, maintenance, prenuptial agreements and dissolution.
We deal with children's matters such as where a child will live, how often they see both of their parents, where they will stay during holidays and so on. We regularly act for grandparents who wish to see their grandchildren.
No matter how difficult the situation is, with our assistance it can be resolved. Our approach is conciliatory yet firm - we believe an aggressive stance only serves to protract matters and increase costs. We will obtain the best possible settlement for clients with the minimum of fuss.
We regularly work with mortgage advisors, valuers and estate agents to enable matters to proceed. We also deal with wills, trusts and probate to ensure that our clients' property and possessions are dealt with as they wish.
Our offices are based in the easy to access central locations of Gosforth near Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland
