First Meeting
To be assessed for legal aid you must bring with you written proof of your income by way of your last pay slip or a letter notifying you of any state benefit that you receive including tax credits and child benefit. You will also need proof of the amount of rent or mortgage that you pay.
To help us advise you in relation to a financial settlement you should obtain the following.
- Last three months of pay slips
- A list of assets in your sole name, in the joint name of you and your partner, or in your partner's sole name. E.g. House, endowments, pensions, shares, savings, car or other valuables. You should bring proof of valuations if you have the same.
- Last three months of bank statements.
- Details of partner's income.
- Details of all outgoings and any debts that you have, to include settlement figures in respect of loans.
- Your marriage certificate (or certificate of registration) if you are sure you wish to begin divorce (or dissolution) proceedings.
